Our Camps are spread out from the far West right to the Eastern Coast, allowing guests to experience a diversity in landscape, flora and fauna across the vast and wonderful Tanzania. Unlike many Tanzanian safaris, our lodges are in the much less frequented Southern half of the country, where you are more likely to see huge herds of animals than huge hoards of game vehicles. Katavi enjoys a 6 month dry period from June through to end October. As the park dries out the animals are concentrated into smaller areas contributing to the spectacularly large herds. Get away from it all to relax and unwind with 9km uninterrupted beach and swimming at all tides. Imagine a private island in the Indian Ocean, the waves lapping the white sandy beach just metres from your bed. Set on one of the most stunning stretches of the Great Ruaha River, you can see game throughout the day from the comfort of your veranda; there can surely be few other camps as perfectly situated. Ruaha can be visited at any time of year, however the best time for game viewing is during the dry season from June to December when wildlife converges on the dwindling water reserves notably the river in front of the Lodge. The dry season between June to end November has the higher concentrations of game. The camp remains open until the end of February, reopening again 1.
